We receive a vast number of letters from youth leaders and individuals which endorse the benefits to be gained from life at sea.  These letters are very encouraging to us in our work, help us to secure funding for the Voyage of Discovery Fund and are an excellent way to tell other youth organisations about the service we provide.

The extracts below are just a sample of the comments we receive.

"We are back from a trip that people here will still be talking about for months to come!  At our centre we specialise in finding challenging activities for people, and the trip certainly fulfilled our criteria.  It was a joy to hear some of our crew say 'I never believed I could have done that'.  One man in particular repeated the phrase about nearly everything he did or was asked to undertake and it has developed his confidence and self esteem no end.  It was a privilege for me to be a part of that and thank you for making it happen."

"This has been the sixth time that I have been able to take a group away on such a sailing adventure, and I have to state that, despite all the pluses of other forms of Outdoor Pursuits, the experience of sailing and the need to work together, regardless of the weather, or how tired you may feel, maximises the chance for people to grow and take pride in their achievements."

"Once again, I find myself writing to you to sing your praises.  For the third year running we have been able to enjoy the wonderful experience of sailing on board Duet and have come away with some great memories.  The group chosen to go away was picked, not only for their enthusiasm and eagerness, but also because they had never had the luxury of being able to taste the unique experience of sailing before.  They did not disappoint as a crew and all got along famously in such small confines.  A major reason for the good atmosphere was the great leadership from the Skipper and first mate.  They were welcoming, hospitable, very professional and great tutors."

"Once again we had a brilliant trip and I would like to thank, not only the crew, who were once again excellent, but I would also like to thank all the behind the scenes staff who made the trip possible.  Everyone came back with a special memory from the trip, which I know they will carry with them for ever.  One of these trips can change a persons' outlook on life, making them stronger, kinder, more considerate and an all round better human being, this can only be down to the great work that the Cirdan Sailing Trust does."

"We spent a really wonderful weekend aboard.  It exceeded all our expectations.  We found the vessel well equipped, and all of the activities, from sailing to brass polishing, crabbing to climbing the rigging, stimulating and fun.  The residents enjoyed feeling that they were important and valued members of the crew.  They rose to the challenges in a way that surprised us all, and have gained confidence as a result.  The high regard to safety at all times, in addition to the calm and thorough way in which the Skipper, his first mate and crew organised and explained everything, ensured that that everyone felt relaxed and secure."
