2008 sees The Cirdan Sailing Trust celebrating 25 years of operation

A number of events will be staged during the year to mark the occasion and if any of our supporters would like to host or arrange an event on our behalf we would be pleased to hear from them. Special 25th anniversary donations would be gratefully accepted. By coincidence, The Excelsior Trust with whom we work very closely (and whose vessel Excelsior we operate), are also celebrating their 25th year in 2008.

Amongst our celebration events are:

Charity Gala Concert at The Royal Hospital School, Holbrook, Ipswich on Saturday 2 February 2008 at 7.30pm.

This concert is being staged by the school in aid of The Cirdan Sailing Trust and three other local charities.  We are using the event to start our 25th year celebrations. Tickets are available at just £6.

Anniversary Day Sail
Sunday 20 April 2008 - Full Fleet

This day sail specifically for members of Cirdan and Excelsior Trust will take place from Harwich Pier between 9.30am and 4.40pm.  The cost for members and their guests is £63pp which includes a light lunch and refreshments a glass or two of ‘bubbly’ and birthday cake.  All participants will be presented with a certificate as a memento.  If places are available the general public will be welcome to join us at the price of £78 (or they can become a Cirdan member for £10 and save £5).

ASTO Small Ships’ Race

Cowes 3 - 5 October 2008
This event has become an annual fixture in the maritime youth calendar.  Participating groups can join our vessel on Friday for a practise sail, enjoy the camaraderie and atmosphere amongst the fleet in the evening before competing in the race on Saturday.  A reception and prize giving in the evening gives everyone a chance to have fun and swap stories of their day.
