Day sailsDay Sails aboard our vessels are available for individuals during the season. Please contact the Cirdan office for further details. Annual General MeetingThe Trust's AGM was held on Saturday 14th May at the Maldon Town Hall. We had a successful meeting followed by tea and a plentiful supply of home made cakes. The Lingwood Consort 'Songs for Sailors'This musical evening with a nautical flavour was staged by member Christopher Kinglsey and his fellow musicians to raise funds and increase our profile in the local area. It was a very enjoyable evening and we look forward to the next one. Charity Bike RideOur charity bike ride, known this year as the 'Summer Breeze' ride, has now become an annual event and will take place on Sunday 10th July 2011. Thanks to the hard work of our dedicated volunteer Tim Davis, who plans and marks the route, we have been asked to make the event more suitable for club cyclists so the long route has been increased to 85 miles and we have placed it on Cyclosport, a dedicated cycle event website. However, we still want to provide a fun day out for our regular supporters and have kept the short route to 25 miles making sure it goes near the jam factory tea shop. This year we will have a staggered start with the 85 mile ride starting at 09:00hrs and the 25 mile ride starting at 10:00hrs both from Chandlers Quay, Maldon. Registration fee for the 85 mile ride is £20 and for the 25 mile ride is £15. If you wish to participate as a sponsored rider the registration fee is just £5 but you will need to attract a minimum of £15 in sponsorship money. Concessionary prices are available for riders aged under 16 years who must ride with an adult. All riders aged under 18 years need adult consent to participate. We would encourage riders to register in advance either by contacting the Cirdan office or through the Cyclosport website however we will also welcome any rider who prefers to register on the day. Please park in the nearby Butt Lane car park and walk your bike down to Chandlers Quay via the footpath which will be marked. The cycle routes will be well marked and a BBQ will be available at the finish for anyone wishing to relax after their ride. We would like to encourage our supporters to take part in this event to help raise funds for our work so please put the date in your dairy - if you don’t want to cycle yourself you could encourage your friends and family to do so. ASTO Small Ships' Race - CowesThe annual ASTO Cowes Small Ships' Race is planned for Saturday 1st October 2011. This sailing event specifically for young people aged between 12 and 25 years involves a well organised race in the Solent with about 30 vessels of varying sizes. The race is followed by a civic reception and prize giving party for all participants. Contact the Cirdan office for further details.
